Competition Announcement: 

Innovative Crop Management Decision Tables Challenge

We invite participants to create original and innovative crop management Decision Tables using SWAT+ Toolbox v2. Check Judging criteria for insights into what we're looking for in terms of innovation, feasibility, and presentation quality.

Who Can Participate?

This competition is open to all individuals interested in agricultural management and modeling, including but not limited to:

  • Researchers
  • Agricultural professionals
  • Students
  • Environmental scientists
  • Enthusiasts and innovators in the field

Prizes

  • 1st Place: SWAT Branded Cap, Polo, Jacket, and Mug
  • 2nd Place: SWAT Branded Cap, Jacket, and Mug
  • 3rd Place: SWAT Branded Jacket and Mug
  • Honorable Mentions: SWAT Branded Mug

All winners will receive recognition on the SWAT Website.

Judging Criteria

  1. Innovation (50%)
    • Originality of the Decision Table structure.
    • Novel approaches to crop management practices.
    • Creative use of conditions and actions.
  2. Feasibility (25%)
    • Practicality of implementing real-world scenarios in the Decision Table(s).
    • Compatibility with existing agricultural practices and technologies.
    • Computational efficiency: minimizing the amount of conditions/actions to implement a solution
  3. Clarity and Presentation (25%)
    • Clarity and thoroughness of the report.
    • Logical flow and coherence in explaining the Decision Table(s).
    • Visual and verbal quality of the report.

Submission Requirements

  1. A short report (5 pages Max) with a description of the Decision Table(s), including conditions and actions and a rationale behind the chosen conditions and actions.
  2. SWAT+ Toolbox portable project file used to create the decision table (exported using the ‘Export’ feature in SWAT+ Toolbox).
