September 2026 SWAT+ Online Workshops
Join us online in September for two back-to-back SWAT+ workshops. These live workshops will be held using Microsoft Teams and are designed to help participants build practical SWAT+ skills through guided, hands-on training.
Register for one workshop, or attend both and receive a discount on registration fees.
SWAT+ Beginner Workshop
Dates: 7–9 September
Time: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CDT (adjust for your time zone)
Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
The SWAT+ Beginner Workshop is designed for new SWAT+ users or anyone who would like a guided introduction to building a SWAT+ model.
This workshop will focus on the basic steps of model development using QSWAT+ and SWAT+ Editor. The training is mostly hands-on, with time for questions and interaction with instructors. See a sample agenda
Recommended background:
Participants should have basic familiarity with QGIS, including opening map layers, zooming, panning, and selecting features.
Topics include:
- Introduction to SWAT+
- Overview of SWAT+ model concepts and applications
- Introduction to the QSWAT+ interface
- Watershed delineation
- Land use and soil setup
- HRU creation
- Weather and model input setup using SWAT+ Editor
- Running a SWAT+ simulation
- Using SWAT+ Check to identify possible model issues
- Visualizing and interpreting model outputs
SWAT+ Advanced Workshop
Dates: 14-16 September
Time: 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. CDT (adjust for your time zone)
Location: Online via Microsoft Teams
The SWAT+ Advanced Workshop is designed for participants who already have experience developing SWAT+ models and want to learn more advanced tools and workflows.
This workshop will focus on land management setup, decision tables, reservoirs, point sources, and model calibration and validation using SWAT+ Editor and SWAT+ Toolbox. See a sample agenda
Recommended background:
Participants should have prior experience with SWAT+ model development. This workshop builds on the skills covered in the beginner workshop.
Topics include:
- Review of SWAT+ model structure, inputs, and outputs
- Land management setup in SWAT+ Editor
- Agricultural operations
- Reservoir operations
- Point source setup
- Introduction to decision tables
- Decision table examples for land management and reservoirs
- Hydrology calibration and validation
- Water quality calibration and validation
- Use of SWAT+ Toolbox for calibration and analysis
What to Expect
- We'll email you the week before the workshop with a final agenda, list of requirements, and link to join online
- Recordings will be available online for download
- Certificates of completion will be emailed after the workshop is complete
Software Requirements
Participants should install the required software before the workshop begins. Windows, Linux, and MacOS versions are available.
Registration and Cancellation Policy
Participants may register for either workshop individually. A discounted registration fee is available for participants who register for both the Beginner and Advanced workshops.
If you reside in a developing country, you are eligible for further discounts in workshop fees. See the list of eligible countries, under the LOW-INCOME ECONOMIES or LOWER-MIDDLE INCOME ECONOMIES headings. If you reside in one of these countries, select the appropriate option in the form.
Registration fees will be refunded, less a 5% processing fee, if cancellation or change resulting in a refund is received in writing no later than 1 September 2026.
